Does Rekord run its own lending protocol or vaults?
Does Rekord run its own lending protocol or vaults?
No. Rekord does not host its own vaults and has not built its own lending protocol. It runs entirely on mature, independently audited third-party vault infrastructure.
That's a deliberate choice. Vault and lending contracts are some of the most heavily tested code in on-chain finance, and infrastructure that has been running and audited over time has a track record a new build can't have. Reusing it means Rekord doesn't ask anyone to trust new, untested contracts.
Rekord's own work sits underneath: verifying that the real-world assets behind an instrument exist, are held where they're said to be, and are performing as reported. That's the layer most on-chain credit lacks, and it's the one Rekord is built for.
What to check about any vault infrastructure
Whoever the provider is, a few questions are worth asking:
- Audits. Who has audited the contracts, how recently, and were the findings fixed?
- Isolation. Is each market kept separate, so a problem in one doesn't spread to others?
- Limits. Are allocation caps and risk settings set on-chain where you can see them?
- Oracles. Where does each market get its prices, and how does that work for assets without an exchange price?
