Can I pledge staked ETH without un-staking?
Yes. You can pledge staked ETH as collateral without going through the unstaking process, and there are two ways this typically works depending on what form your staked position takes.
If you hold a liquid staking token, stETH, rETH, cbETH, or similar, you already have a freely transferable representation of your staked ETH. That token can be posted directly as collateral in a lending market while the underlying ETH stays staked and continues earning rewards. You keep the staking yield and gain borrowing power against the position at the same time, without touching the validator or waiting through an exit queue. This is the most common route and the reason liquid staking tokens exist in the first place.
If you hold ETH staked in a form that isn't already a liquid token, the pledge can be structured through a verifiable, custody-backed arrangement that represents the staked position on-chain without requiring you to unstake. The staked ETH stays where it is, and an on-chain claim against it is what enters the lending market.
Either way, two things are worth understanding about the risk. First, a staked-ETH position carries the price risk of ETH plus, in the case of liquid staking tokens, the peg risk of the wrapper (the token can trade slightly away from the ETH it represents), and collateral terms account for both. Second, staked positions carry their own considerations like slashing and, in some cases, exit-queue timing, which factor into how conservatively the collateral is valued.
